神的心意是要被祂拯救的人与世界分别为圣，把自己完全的奉献给祂，为祂而活，作一个新约的拿细耳人。在旧约里，只有祭司才能在会幕献祭服侍神，因为他们比其他以色列人更加的靠近神，所以祭司有特别圣洁的要求。其他的以色列人，如果要在灵里侍奉神、靠近神、他们就可以当拿细耳人。拿细耳人的要求比祭司还高、更加的严谨。新约的拿细耳人必须放弃世界的好处，为了要得到上好的属灵的祝福，就是与神亲近，享受基督的丰富。他们愿意为主受辱，被十字架破碎，让基督成形在他们里面，远离一切的属灵的死亡，依靠基督过得胜的生活
